Thanksgiving Door Decor

I just wanted to share with you my Thanksgiving door decor from last year! Time flew by so quickly and we didn't get to do it this year, especially since we have the whole week off for Thanksgiving, but I am definitely going to make sure I get everything together in time next year!

My best friend Amanda did this with her kiddos back when we used to teach together (miss teaching with her and her creative ideas so much!!), and I thought it was adorable!

I cut out feather shapes on different colored construction paper and sent them home over the weekend with my students with a note telling them to decorate the feather however they liked. Then they returned them on Monday and we put together our Thanksgiving turkey! They loved looking at each others' creative feathers, and students from other classes in the school stopped by to check out the feathers as well!

I made the turkey using 4 paper plates: 1 for the head, 1 for the body, a triangle from 1 for the beak, and 1 cut into half for the wings. I painted the plates brown (and orange for the beak) before putting the turkey together.

I missed my turkey door this year, but I am most definitely going to be putting up a special Christmas door! Decorating doors isn't really a big thing at my school, but I think it is so much fun! Do teachers decorate their doors at your schools?

  3. I love it Molly!! The feathers are so cute!

We don't decorate doors like that, but I remember when I was little and our school did in middle school. I loved it then! Your students must enjoy this so much :)
