Colorful Toolbox Organizer!

Title695593601

Today I am linking up with Tara from 4th Grade Frolics for her first Monday Made It linky party!

After seeing one of her previous posts where she gave a toolbox a makeover, I decided I was in desperate need of a similar organization system!

So, off to Home Depot I went to pick out an organizer!
I knew I wanted to spray paint it white, so I got this grey one because I figured it would be easier to cover up than the navy blue one (which was the only other choice)!

I sprayed it with a plastic primer first, and then a couple coats of white spray paint.
While the paint was drying I cut out scrapbook paper and printed the labels, which were made by Rebecca at Create, Teach, Share. She is the original inspiration behind the toolbox makeover! I attached the labels to the scrapbook paper with a removable adhesive and then I put the paper into the drawers, which I attached with a small piece of tape on the top and bottom.

After the paint was dry (well, pretty dry) I brought it inside and put in the drawers!.

It definitely brightens up the counter behind my desk!

I am SO happy with how it turned out! I made it Thursday night and brought it to school on Friday and my kiddos thought it was the coolest thing ever!

Too bad it's only for me! :)

  5. I need something more than baskets full of junk, so this might be a great summer project. I never knew you could spray paint plastic, but it's nice to know you need to prime it first. I have some crates that could use a makeover!

  10. So cute!! Is that scrapbook paper that you measured and cut or did you make it all on the computer to print and cut?

  19. Did you have to purchase dividers to come with it? As I've been looking online, it seems like a lot of people have to buy dividers for it separately?

  22. So Cute!! Love the idea. Heading to the store tomorrow! Walmart or anywhere that sells spray paint also sells spray paint for plastic items. I know this because I just repainted my plastic chairs that sit on my frount porch. Alot cheaper than buying new chairs. lol! One $4.00 can of spray paint did the job. Just look for the paint for plastic! It comes in several colors! FUN STUFF!!

  25. Hi! Could you share how you got the text boxes around the labels? Did it allow you to edit the Google Doc? I love the look of the bold line around the words! Thanks!
